Updates

We hope you all have (had) a successful maple season. I know for those of us in the lower elevations, there were challenges with off-flavored syrup (I produced a whopping 36 oz of syrup, and it was all off flavor with metabolism). But I think the upper elevations did well, and hopefully everyone did well early on.

From what I have seen on Facebook, Maple Days was a huge success for many farms! A big thank you to Future Generations for getting the word out and working with WV Living Magazine, WV Explorer, ancillary businesses etc.

I have been enjoying the Tap Talk sessions. I hope you will join us if you haven’t already. The next one is Tuesday – Here are some details which you should have received in email recently. The email also had some filtering and packaging guidelines which I added to the Useful Links page under Resources.

Getting ready for the sales season, we’re going to have a “round the weather cooler” Tap Talk session next Tuesday, March 28th at 7:00pm to discuss bottling and labeling.  What are the problems, and how do you avoid the mistakes.  Bring your secrets to share.

Mike and Les are  inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

As always, keep an eye on https://www.future.edu/maple/ for Out of the Woods Seminars. Once you sign up for one, you are on the list for subsequent ones.

I have taken the March Newsletter and put it on the Members Only site as it is a members-only perk – you should have received it in email and in hard copy, as well. I put the September 2022 issue under the main website’s Resources tab, in the Newsletters link.

Happy Spring, Everyone!
