- Description of Business
- The Swan family has been making syrup since 2015, having tapped between 6 and 25 trees yearly until 2020. We made 60 gallons of syrup with a bit over 200 taps in 2021, jumping up to 200 gallons from 850 taps in 2022, and are increasing again to (hopefully) 1,000+ taps in 2023. We have just a handful of maples at our house outside Hillsboro, where our sugar shack is located. Most of the trees we're tapping are leased from several landowners on the beautiful waters of Stamping Creek of the Greenbrier River, in addition to our partnership with the Yew Mountain Center in Lobelia. We plan to tap a number of sycamores again this year, come check it out and grab a sample!
