Description of Business
Hi! Our names are Adam and Rachel Taylor and we own and operate Frostmore Farm. We are located in Pocahontas County, West Virginia on Route 92 between Frost and Dunmore (that’s how we got the name Frostmore). This adventure started for us in 2011, with the opportunity to buy the property - we didn't have a maple business in mind. We started out just tapping a few trees as a hobby with family and friends and had fun. Maple syrup had been produced on the farm previously and there is still an old “sugar shack” standing today that is over 100 years old. We steadily expanded each year by tapping more trees and producing more syrup. In 2014, we had 370 buckets and made 155 gallons of syrup! That summer we went on vacation to New England and visited a few maple syrup producers’ farms. We came home inspired to do more with our farm! We attended workshops and a camp just for people interested in making syrup to try to learn as much as we could. After maple camp, we got to work installing tubing, a vacuum pump, a reverse osmosis machine, and an updated evaporator and some gadgets to help us process the syrup. We also got our organic certification, making us the 2nd certified organic maple syrup business in West Virginia! We currently have a roadside stand that sells syrup to passers-by and is on the honor system. If you are interested in our maple products but won’t be near us we ship and accept credit orders. Our current maple products include maple syrup, maple cream, maple candy, infused maple syrup, maple cotton candy, and maple balsamic vinaigrette. We enjoy talking about the maple syrup making process and want to see this industry grow in our area. Our goal for the future is to produce high-quality delicious maple syrup and maple products in the most efficient and sustainable way. Please let us know if you have any questions!
