West Virginia Maple Syrup Producers Association

West Virginia Maple Syrup Producers Association

Mountain State Maple Days is your invitation to step into West Virginia’s sugarwoods and experience maple season up close. During this special series of open-house weekends, participating maple producers across the state welcome visitors to their farms and sugarhouses to see how sap becomes syrup—steam, stainless steel, and all the sweet, woodsy magic in between.

What to expect: Come for the sights and smells of boiling sap, stay for the stories.

Many stops offer sugarhouse tours, demonstrations, tasting samples, and chances to purchase pure West Virginia maple syrup and value-added treats like candies, creams, baked goods, and more (offerings vary by

location). You’ll meet the people behind the syrup, learn about the forests that make it possible, and leave with a deeper appreciation for one of West Virginia’s most delicious traditions.

What to wear: This is real working-farm terrain—beautiful, but not sidewalk-friendly. Dress for the weather and the potential for snow or mud.

Footwear: sturdy boots or closed-toe shoes with good tread (waterproof is a big plus). Skip smooth-bottom shoes.

Clothing: dress in layers—sugarhouses can be warm, while outside can be chilly and damp.

Extras: a hat, gloves, and a jacket are recommended, and you might want a change of socks in the car.

Whether you’re a first-timer, a maple enthusiast, or just looking for an unforgettable winter-to-spring adventure, Mountain State Maple Days is the perfect way to explore West Virginia, support local producers, and taste the season—one warm sample at a time.
