Somehow I missed an email I received a couple weeks ago about these workshops but I don’t think it is too late! Here is the content:
Dear Friends of WVSU Extension Service:
On April 17th, WVSU Ext. Service will be holding a Farming and Food Manufacturing workshop at the Clendenin Community Center from 6-8:30pm. Come learn about the state of agriculture in West Virginia, what are the most popular crops and livestock to grow and raise and what in-demand foods to make and sell. Learn about existing taxes and regulations, and where to go to access costshare programs, grants and low-interest loans to start-up your ag enterprise. We will have an established farmer and a new farmer, and a food manufacturer present to talk about their trials, tribulations and successes.
Military veterans, minorities and dislocated miners are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop.
We are trying to spark interest in West Virginians creating new paths towards economic sustainability and prosperity by getting them to make a living off of their own land… or rent out someone else’s land.
You can RSVP on our Facebook page here:https://www.facebook.com/events/310948859764368/
Also, we have identical workshops taking place in Charleston on Feb. 20th and in Chesapeake on March 14th.
These workshops are a lead in to our free Urban Agriculture Conference and Community Expo taking place May 3rd and 4th on the campus of West Virginia State University in Institute.
