Here’s a fun little thing: go to SapTapApps and you can see your “Flowcaster” which gives an indication as to whether you can expect sap to be running. Right now it uses “oral tradition” to make the best guess based on the weather readings. You can log your production from day to day and in time the application developer will try to “flowcast” based on what historical logs indicate, in conjunction with weather data. Kinda neat, right? You can also see who is getting sap where, via “pins” on a map, or via a “heat map”. I think I’m the only West Virginia user who has logged any sap yet this year. After all my fussing about the cloudy weather, many of my trees started giving up their delicious elixir!
