Recently, Mike Rechlin asked me to add a link to our website about the RO Bucket. I went to add it to our useful links but first I had to see what this thing was. For $300 I can get a RO-5, which looks a lot simpler than adapting my own under-the-sink water filter for an RO device. It is literally a bucket that has a filtering system. There are two output tubes, one with a needle value, and one without, and one intake tube. You put them all in your sap bucket that you want to filter. Then you plug in your RO bucket, wait for the sap to start flowing out the tube with the needle value, and adjust the needle valve until the two output tubes have equal flow. You can discard the output from the non-needle-valve tube, but your filtered sap is in the one with the needle-valve. I think even I can manage this! They make 3 sizes depending on your number of taps. I want the smallest one for Christmas! Well, we’ll see what Santa decides! See the RO Bucket Facebook page and website for more information and videos.
