Introduction:
Maple in the Classroom creates opportunities to enrich students’ STEM education with lessons about maple syrup production. This fascinating process combines knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics to make a sticky, sweet treat. For students, maple education provides an opportunity to learn these hard sciences, gain hands on experience in- and outside the classroom, investigate a growing West Virginia industry, and spark interest in the world around them through experiential learning.
Maple can be introduced to all grade levels and classes, from kindergarten to 12th grade. This website provides the resources to help create curricula that integrate maple into many aspects of classroom learning and provide a worthwhile learning experience for students of all ages.
